The action on the ice was wicked, but all the efforts of the Dunnville Terriers last Friday couldn't keep the storm that was Simcoe from blowing them away.
Right from the first goal 45 seconds into the first period by Simcoe's Anthony Dolcetti, the Terriers had trouble keeping the boys in blue out of their end. Dunnville goalie, Matt Madden, allowed three goals in the first period and then one goal three minutes into the second period before coaches, Terry MacArthur and Dave Robertson, put in Tyler Gilbertson. Gilbertson saved 39 shots but allowed Simcoe to score three more goals before the storm subsided.
The first two periods were riddled with penalties on both sides. Simcoe Storm got seven and Dunnville Terriers got eight; with Simcoe's Jordan Paton and Dunnville's Mitch Barnes each getting a five-minute game misconduct for a fight at the end of the second period.
By the third period both teams looked tired with lots of skating but no real action. Dunnville captain, Dan Minor, was out of the game for abusing an official 15 minutes into the period; and the game ended with a goal by Simcoe's Kirk Stevenson and Zane Neilly almost two minutes before the last bell.
Dunnville's Mitch Barnes scored one goal in the first period assisted by Austin Golding and Chris Furneaux; Taylor Schwoob scored a powerplay goal in the second period assisted by Dustin Demoe and Mitch Butler; and Mike Werner scored the last goal for Dunnville in the second period assisted by Jordan Hopkins and Tyler Springer.
